Blackpool 2007 Cuban Weekender

 What a journey we had to get up there! The roads were choca all the way. The minute we arrived though i knew it was worth the trip.

Being a Northern gal, i know what the weather can be like up north, but i was pleasantly surprised. We had the sun with us most of the weekend. Saturday being a hot one. So to the pub we all went for a ice cold lager  shandy. We may have missed a couple of the lessons, but it just had to be done!

A weekender just for CUBAN was just what the doctor ordered. The Oricle of Cuban dance, Kerry Ribchester, put us through our paces and showed us the way of the Cubans and their dance, which included Son and Rumba.

 Kerry had introduced  Leandro from Cuba a few months before. He was here to share his infectious smile and enthusiasm with us. If you ever get the chance to see him dance do. His body movement includes body popping, which when added to Reggaton makes it unique.

Never think there is nothing more to learn about the dance ,as you would be wrong. Very wrong. After this weekend i realise i am only at the beginning of a long and happy journey.

The overall weekend was great. No posers! Just everyone enjoying themselves and sharing that fun with others.
